Rudolph Day!

All I did was made a comment on a http://stampingforpleasure.blogspot.com/2012/01/its-rudolph-day.html and I was "dared" to enter.  Well I forgot all about it until 15 minutes ago when I was going through my emails, 25 minutes to go, so rush and this is what I came up with. OK not brilliant, but it was in a rush.  And I am not a stamper and it would have been to short a time for PS, so this is my first card for 2012 Xmas, I can't believe it.
The tree was cut on my Cricut from a file by BirdsCards.com and the NOEL was cut out of it using my Fairycuts program with my Cricut.  Then embossed with the Xmas tree folder from Cuttlebug.  Finally I Stickled by rubbing my finger over it, no time to be tidy!

Valentine order Urgent EDIT and More EDITS

Well! what an embarressment, it seems it's not a Mo Manning digi after all, however it is a copy.  I have been in contact with Mo Manning and she says I can keep this post here and keep it in the challenges I have entered, but, what I will do is make another card from Mo's image. Please accept apologies for the mix up, I assure you I was in the middle of all this and did not know about the copy digi or Mo's original for that matter.
BEFORE you see my card, it has been brought to my attention that this delightful image is by Mo Manning, I have replied to Bernice, who let me know, in my comments. However I thought here would be more appropriate to apologise to Mo Manning that I identified it as someone elses image, I have had this image a long time and I had not saved who it was by, I thought as I had seen it on another site and identified as from there I had a name at last, I am only to happy to correct the information. I will also let the challenge owners I have corrected it.

I was asked by one of the men in work to make a valentine card for his wife, he always asks me to make cards for her and they have to be filled with lots of love and mush.  Bless him. This is what I came up with, it's perfect for this, I love it. The heart frame is cut using a cut file by Birdcards.com, the papers are from Summertime Designs.  I paper pieced the papers in PS and then coloured their hair and boots in PS too.  The heart is cut with my Cricut as well, I added a rose and ribbon bow from my stash and then used Glamour Dust around the heart and a little on the girls dress to add a little sparkle, I used a heart overlay by Digiscraps on the background paper .

I am going to put it into the following challenges all for Valentine or Hearts.

Another Valentine card

Just making a couple of Valentines cards for work, I don't usually take them in as it's so limited, but I thought I'd try it and as there are mostly women, did it for one of them (hopefully).
It's a Meljens Design digi with papers from Summertime Designs, all done in PS including the colouring, cut out some hearts on my Cricut, embossed with the Swiss dots folder, added Glamour dust - done!  Don't think anyone could ignore the colour combination here LOL.

I am going to enter it into

LIM 52

LIM 52 and Chrissie and Mandi's LESS IS MORE blog birthday, they have been at it a year now, encouraging us to think outside of the box, I'm still trying too LOL.  The criteria for this week is -

For our challenge this week we have a SKETCH and we have a few basic ground rules.

We would like the card to be

  • rectangular
  • in landscape orientation
  • with the band remaining in a vertical position

As it's a very simple sketch,  we would like it to remain as is without any rotation
of either the cardor the vertical band.
I had a look today as usual to see what was "on the cards", I like a sketch it gives me somewhere to start, and this is a great sketch.  As I had just finished a Valentine's card order I decided I was still in the mood for lurve,( better not tell the hubby! "laughing")

As you know by now, I am not a stamper, but I do love my digital.  These are an image and paper from Gina Jane at DAISIE, In PS I placed the background paper first, then made a strip and placed it on top, I then had a play to see where the heart would in my opinion look best and placed it. Printed them out seperately then glued them on the card, I used 3D foam pads to adhere the heart, I Stickled some of the chocolates and glossy accented the paper ones in the box.  The sentiment I either read or saw somewhere, it just came into my head this morning.

EDITED - NO!!!!!!!!!! I have only just noticed that I spelt chocolate wrong, will have to print the sentiment again on a label and add it. DUH!

I am goint to enter the following challenges as well as LIM with this card.

The critrea for Less is More challenge this week is -

Onto this week and it's theme time, we have chosen
"Cut it Out"
For this we would like to see some kind of hole
or aperture in your card!

I think I have enough time left to add it, late as usual :)  It's for an engagement, so I thought I would try the hole in the card, I've not done anything like it before.  I think it's OK, but thought I'd show it to you anyway, nothing like the incredible cards entered on Less is More though.

The hole was cut with my Cricut, the hearts were cut with a punch, I added bling I bought in The Range to make it look like an engagement ring, I cut the corner of the card, traced around a glass. Then added some Glamour dust on the outside ring to make a little more sparkle. I added the centre cut out piece of the outside ring to the inside after stamping - yes stamping! a sentiment.  Very simple!

Confirmation card

Sorry about the lapse of blogging, I have been off work for a week due to annual leave I had to take. My hubby and I have actually spent some quality time together and it's been lovely. However I had to do a few cards as I had an order for 2 and my 55 year old niece and her husband got confirmed today and this is the card I made for them, it was based on  a card I saw here http://www.lorimaycards.co.uk/page10.htm I was looking for a verse and this was perfect, I used part of it on the front and part on the inside.

This is how I did it all - I used the font Vivaldi, the lily overlay is by Pixels and IceCream but to get the cross and chalice in, I had to cut it down a bit, I think it's such a beautiful overlay.  The Cross is a cut file by BirdCards.com, the chalice is an image I made into a cut file, the “bread”? I cut a circle and added the cross without all the intricate cuts to the middle, then added it with 3D foam pads to the chalice after cutting out on my Cricut using Fairycuts. I added small bling to the both crosses and then added Glamour Dust byDecoArt to the lily overlay. I am really pleased with this card.  The photo makes the cross and chalice look gold coloured, in fact it was cut from Silver mirror card.

LIM 50

I haven't entered a LIM challenge for a while again, so when I saw it was a bird I just had to.  I have this wonderful digi from Digi Darla that I have coloured in PS. Took a bit of time, but I am pleased with the effect.  I then took a Breezy Sky background from Gina Jane at DAISIE. I made it "more" breezy in PS added a sentiment and printed it out.  Hope you like it.

a Hi! card

I wanted to make a card for a cousin of mine who is terminally ill, didn't really know what to do, but thought I would make a delicate card out of some of my favourite papers from Digital Diva Designs.  I chose a sketch to follow by Here Comes the Boys blog.

What image to put? I love this little Harold Duck from Doodle Pantry so matched the yellow of the flowers and coloured him in PS.  I have raised the sentiment on it's side, although it doesn't look like, and Stickled the flower, I hope it cheers her, not that she needs it, she cheers us up.

I've just noticed on the sketch I should have added 3 "bling" - Oooops! too late!!!!!!!!!!  BUT NOT before I send it LOL

Vintage car

I have a few men's birthday's coming up so thought I would make a card in readiness, not like me at all :)  All the papers and the image and sentiment are from Doodle Pantry.  I printed the papers straight onto the card and then printed the car and sentiment out, mounted them on to black card by Papermania and added buttons I bought from Capture the Magic.  I coloured the car and sentiment in PS.  I also tried new filters in PS and made the hood, leather effect, not sure if you can see it and then used the chrome filter for the engine light and windscreen, you may be able to see that effect. Inside it says "You're a Classic" another sentiment in the kit. A simple card but I like it.

I am going to enter the following challenges with this card  -

Retirement card

One of our Orthopaedic Surgeons is retiring and I was asked to make a card for him, the only thing is, he is coming back as a Locum surgeon, so not actually retiring, just reducing his hours, just as well as it would be a great loss to see him go completely.  Anyhow, this is the card I did, the image is "It's Your Day!" by Karen's Doodles, it's paperpieced with Tweet Tweet digi paper from RetroDiva and I coloured the rest in PS. I copied pictures of orthorpaedic X Rays off the web and used Gradient in PS to make them "pretty" colours LOL. I printed them on the card and then 3D'd the layers with Papermania card. I then cut out the image again and made a slight decoupage effect.  The girl who asked me to do it, was pleased and liked the orthopaedic implants in the picture.  I have blurred the name on the television screen.  Hope you like the card.

first card of 2012

Happy New Year to you All

I was playing yesterday and decided to try something different, - an over the top card!

I made a template in PS, I wanted it to go in to a 6 x 6 envelope I thought that would be a nice size.  I then went hunting for an image and decided on this cutie fab elephant, I'm afraid another one of those images not saved as who by. EDITED - I found another image in My Documents and found the original it's by Kaybescraps http://kaybehybrid.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-08-26T18:51:00%2B02:00&max-results=5  The digi papers are from Looking Pretty by Bette Duganitz.  I printed the inside of the card with the paper so that the elephant would have a pretty not plain background when cut out.  The flower was cut out on my Cricut and is named Flower 2 from a file by BirdsCards.com. The elephants eyes were black, so I recoloured them, added some blushing cheeks, printed it on gloss card from Cuddly Buddly cut it out and decoupaged the elephant.  I then 3D glossed his eyes and toes and added Stickles to the flower.  I have to say I am quite pleased with this and love the expression on the elephant.  I don't usually like making more than one of a card, but I think I will do another with different papers, so it looks different LOL
Have a great day.

Edited  8th January - I told you I would try and make another of this card, well here it is, I also had to make a an envelope for each of them duh! I had made them 10mm to tall to fit inside a standard envelope.
